The olympic flag was designed by Baron Pierre de Coubertin the father of the modern Olympics in 1912, the five interlocking coloured rings, red, green, black, yellow and blue symbolise the five continents whose athletes come together to compete in unity.
The colours themselves plus the white background are said to represent at least one colour from the flag of every nation.
